Palácio do Governador
A hugely skilful conversion from a small 15th-century palace into the clean-lined, contemporary Palácio do Governador where Roman remains are interwoven with the palace’s 17th-century chapter as home to the Governors of the Tower of Belém. Conversion work includes a contemporary twist, while paying homage to Portugal’s rich cultural past.
Remains of a Roman fish sauce factory can be seen under the hotel's entrance courtyard while a restored 17th-century baroque chapel, and painted woodwork ceilings can be admired inside. There is an extensive spa with indoor pool, a restaurant, bar and gardens with swimming pool surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers.
