Viento10 is an intimate design hotel located in a superb location in a quiet corner of Córdoba’s old town, 15 minutes’ walk from the spectacular Mezquita. Once the main door swings open you are not only greeted by a sparkling interior but the seductive aroma of a subtle and calming incense. Viento10 is set within an original 16th-century Andalusian patio house, originally part of the Hospital de los Santos Martires. Ancient stone pillars and arches give clues to its past but it has now been lovingly converted into a contemporary property with a Zen-like peace and tranquillity. Glass doors, hard wood floors, white walls, fresh flowers, and occasional art combine to create a fresh, tranquil, and uncluttered ambiance.

Rooms, all good-sized, are minimalist-contemporary with plain white walls and furniture, and splashes of colour in abstract paintings, with co-ordinated cushions and chairs. Facilities include wall-mounted TVs, a pillow selection and glass-walled bathrooms. Staying true to the original lay out of the patio house, the rooms on the first floor have outward facing windows, while the two rooms in the ground floor have tinted windows towards the patio.

The Viento 10 has a sauna and hot tub, and massage services are available. A large, shaded roof terrace looks out over the tiled roofs of the old town and the Santiago church, a cool place to star gaze too come nightfall. For colder days, there is also an intimate salon where in the evening an honour bar is set out and where you can enjoy some art books.

In the morning this is the breakfast room. The breakfast includes warm fresh breads and croissants, diced ham with Córdoba style tomato, lovely marmalades, fresh juices and fruit. There is no restaurant as such, though owner and host, Gerardo, will happily suggest a wide variety of restaurants and bars within 5-minutes' walk of the hotel.

There is a bicycle rental service within a 5-minute walk and the hotel offers guided tours of the historic district.
