Overlooking 15 km of white sandy beach and crystalline waters in Porta do Corumbau in south Bahia, Fazenda São Francisco do Corumbau is a small boutique hotel, a harmonious hideaway blending modern features with the natural environment. Set on a 167 hectare farm on an open sandbar, a relaxing stroll will take you to the Corumbau river. Take a trip across this pretty waterway and you will come to Pascoal Mount's Indian Reservation, home to the Pataxos tribe. There is much to explore in this fertile region, but you may well wish to simply laze on the beach, relax by the salt water pool or explore the beautiful coral reef beyond, before sampling the delicious regional cuisine in the restaurant.

Choose from the four independent bungalows with spacious bathrooms and private gardens or one of 6 deluxe suites, with 2 in the main building and 4 in two further bungalows (2 in each). Furniture at Fazenda Sao Francisco do Corumbau is simple and a natural palette of creams, whites and wooden fittings features throughout. All rooms have king-size beds fitted with crisp white linens and bathrooms feature towels from Trosseau. Each room has air conditioning, a mini-bar, CD player, wi-fi, I-Pod docking station,Tv and a spacious ocean-facing porch.

Perfect for lazy days on the beach, this natural paradise has an extensive coral reef which stretches out 10 km to sea, a wonderful place to dive. Kayaks and schooner rides can also be arranged if you want to explore beaches a little further away. Behind the acres of farm in which this Chic Retreat is hidden flows the Corumbau river. Take a trip to the other side and you can visit the home of the Pataxos tribe, Pascoal Mount's Indian Reservation. The surrounding forests are home to many rare species of bird and the natural habitat has been preserved by the locals. If you like walking and hiking, there are some great tracks around the farm's mangrove swamps, which can also be explored by bike.

Meals are prepared by Corumbau-born chef Teco, who creatively combines regional cuisine with an international touch, with lots of freshly seafood from the local fishermen and organic vegetables from the hotel's own garden. Enjoy some great wines along with your meal, with a choice of over 50 labels from around the world.
