Rote Wand in Lech, Vorarlberg, is a classic centuries-old Alpine inn, which beneath its traditional surface has been cleverly modernized, renovated in a light, contemporary style. The original inn from 1651 has been extented with several other buildings, keepings its intimate atmosphere.
Instead of heavy timbers the rooms are minimalist, in white Austrian maple, simply furnished and well-lit by the sun. The chic rooms (no air-conditioning) feature a TV, an iPod docking station, an Illy coffee machine, a kettle, a safe, and a balcony. Bathrooms come with a shower, a separate toilet, robes and slippers. Suites and mezzaninre rooms have separate living areas. Apartments add 2-bedrooms and walk-in closets.
Fusing international gourmet cuisine with Austrian specialities, the restaurant at Rote Wand was awarded 2 toques by Gault Millau. The restaurant is set in a converted schoolhouse from 1780 and with chef's table dinners and cooking classes held at the rooftop cook club. There is also an original fondue restaurant and an excellent cocktail bar/lounge.
The 1,500m2 spa offers six indoor and outdoor saunas, beauty treatments and massages, and a heated indoor-outdoor pool. There is also a 300m2 fitness center. In winter -ofcourse- there is skiing, with the nearest lift being a 5-minute walk away and in summer there is a range of activities on offers including bike rental and guided hikes.
The kids' club offers child care and a wide range of fun activities for younger guests.
